Hurlston Hall Wedding – Katie & Ray
Weddings at Hurlston Hall are always a pleasure to photograph, but Katie and Ray’s wedding was particularly awesome!
Katie’s bridal prep coverage at the Vincent Hotel in Southport was both laid back and entertaining, which pretty much sums up Katie’s personality. My style during bridal prep is to pretty much stay in the background and document what happens naturally. I find this to be the most effective way to photograph most of the day, but there will inevitably be some situations that require some direction and creativity on my part. It was great to meet up with Nicola Evans again who did an amazing job on Katie’s hair, and similarly Sarah Oates on MUA duties.
Whilst I was with Katie at The Vincent, my second photographer Dan was enjoying bacon butties with the Ray and his party in Ormskirk. Ray is as laid back as Katie, and the photos during groom’s prep reflected that relaxed vibe, and also captured some nice tender moments between Ray and his son as they both prepared for the big day ahead.
The ceremony was held at St Mary’s church in Aughton, a quaint little church tucked away in the pleasant countryside of West Lancashire. The church was nice and bright inside with plenty of natural light pouring in from the beautiful arched windows. The service was full of smiles and happiness, punctuated with moments of blissful entertainment, notably when the best man Chris gave a virtuoso performance of singing and ‘dancing’ during one of the more rousing hymns.
On to Hurlston Hall after formal group photographs were taken in the church gardens. Ray & Katie’s wedding day coincided with the Merseyside Derby match between local rivals Everton and Liverpool. As we arrived at Hurlston, Blues defender Phil Jagielka scored in the dying minutes of the game to make it 1-1 which was probably the best outcome for a wedding party with both Red and Blue loyalties.
The bride and groom portrait shots at Hurlston Hall with Katie & Ray were possibly my favourite on-location photos ever. Partly because there are some good locations at the venue but primarily because Katie and Ray were very natural in front of camera, and they can both pull off a good pose!
As far as Weddings at Hurlston Hall go. I am sure you will agree that Katie & Ray pulled off something quite special.
